The year was 1978. Amable R. Aguiluz V., fourth son and namesake of Amable M. Aguiluz (1973-1977) who was former Auditor General
during the Macapagal administration, formed a distributorship in Manila for Computer land. The firm became one of the main
distributorship of Apple Computer in the Philippines. It became one of the venues by which advancements made in Computer
Science and Technology was absorbed in the Philippine industrial life.
In answer to the needs of the fast moving industry, the Amable M. Aguiluz Institute of Computer Studies (AMACLC) was established
in the year 1980. The Institute was envisioned to train individuals to become world-class programmers, encoders and technicians.
Due to the Filipinos’ deep hunger for computer education. AMACLC founder Amable M. Aguiluz opened AMA Computer College,
the center for degree courses and year’s later AMA Computer Learning Center, with the able leadership for Mr. Manuel
F. Abad, its Executive Director then. ACL started its operation in June 1987, but it was in the year 1990 that expansion
took placing. In the year 1991 ACL has grown in number with 18 branches in full operation nationwide from four (4) in the
previous year.
Now, the founder’s dream to open ACLC all over the country proves true with a total of 83 branches; 16 company owned
and 67 franchise branches. ACLC has never stopped committing itself in the service of its students by accelerating and upgrading
its curriculum to meet the demands of the market
